Last week 56 rods caught 228 fish for an average of 4.07.
The fishing has definitely improved over the past week with some cooler weather seeing the fish on the move more and responding well to various tactics. Black Buzzer, Diawl Bach, black Tadpole, Gold Head Damsel and Cats Whisker have been the top flies fished on floating or slow sinking lines.
The largest fish was a 7lb+ rainbow which was safely caught and released by regular visitor Dave Bratby of Birmingham who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and he tempted it on a small black Buzzer fished on a floating line. Paul Flanner of Worcester fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught and released over 20 fish to 5lb and these all fell to black and green Nymphs. Rod Lacey of Nuneaton had a change of scenery and fished the Park Meadow pool instead of his favourite Cocks Close and he caught 13 fish to 5lb on a Diawl Bach fished on a floating line. Mr G Fraser of Birmingham fished on a short afternoon session on Cocks Close catching a total of seven fish and these all came to black Buzzers.
The best areas have been the high bank and the old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close and the shallow water on the far side of Park Meadow.
