Yet again the £20,000 UK Angling Championships is attracting some serious attention, this time as tackle giants Preston Innovations announce a three year deal to sponsor the high profile event.
 
Historically Preston have had a long involvement with the UK Champs but dropped their sponsorship some years ago. “We’re delighted to be back as main sponsor of The UK Champs” announced Preston boss Ricky Teal. “The event has a fantastic pedigree and it is great to see it back where it deserves to be, in the limelight and at the forefront of everyone’s minds. It’s got a new lease of life and I know the organisation team have some big things planned for this year”
 
The resurrection of the popularity of the UK Championships lies at the door of match organiser Nigel Harrhy of Barston lake and event promoter Rob Hughes of RHAP Media. Hughes already runs the high profile British Carp Angling Championships, an event which attracts media coverage all over the world, and he has high hopes for the UK Champs having teamed up with Harrhy this year. “Nigel and I are really pleased to have formed an association with Preston Innovations, a company widely recognised as being at the top of the tree in match angling circles. They are the perfect partners for the UK Champs as both Event and sponsor reflect the calibre and status of each other”.
