The day was cool and dry with a splash of sun at Dog Lane this week as
34 anglers kicked off the latest Bag’em Matchbaits sponsored Sunday Silver league for individuals.
By all accounts Rich Wills and Gil Corns were catching from the off, but neither knew they had gone head to head until the end of the match. Gil was pipped into second place by Rich with just 13 extra ounces. Third place went to Rob Cash on peg 10 who used his ‘game over’ rigs to good effect catching some of the bonus orfe that now run to 4lb.
Section winners in both sections were only a few pegs apart with orfe in B section proving to be the saviours.
Andy Judd was the happy angler that caught this weeks biggest perch of 2lb 2oz from peg2 and went home £93 better off.
Despite the low water levels, nearly 2ft short, there were no blanks, but the weigh in showed who needs a fish identikit next match, as a number of crucians and small koi found their way into keep-nets.
The next match in two weeks time will be the first of the Bag’em pairs. Draw will be at the fishery.
