The six-year-old River Tame barbel record has been beaten with a 14lb 8oz fish from the Tamworth area.
Damian Jones adopted a mobile approach on the venue, fishing legered fishmeal boilies on a 12lb braided hooklength to set a new personal best as he beat the long standing river best of 13lb 10oz, set by Phil Bennett in 2006. Damian said: “I’ve fished the river for several years and always found it tough. But I’m used to working really hard for my fish so I have never been put off by the fact that the river’s barbel are so elusive.”
