A PIKE angler watched in horror as £3000 and the European Pike Angling Championships slipped through his fingers.
Alcester, Warks based Kevin Roads hooked and boated a fine fish estimated at 22lb during the event on Ireland’s Lough Derg.
But just as he went to weigh the fish, which would have given him an untouchable lead in the prestigious match, it flipped one more time and went over the side.
And it didn’t get much better for Kevin, as later in the day he hooked another double figure fish, only for the hooks to pull out.
The organisers awarded Kevin a fishfinder as the prize for the event’s unluckiest angler.
