Hot temperatures have brought an abundance of cats and carp action on all of our lakes recently. Here’s the details:-
1.7.13 – Paul Passmore (Swindon) had 31lb Cat and 4.5lb Eel on Stuarts using lob worm.
5.7.13 – Andy Greatrex (Stone) had 3 Cats weighing in at 17lb, 21lb and 27.5lb from Masters and Stuarts using meat and live bait.
6.7.13 – Daven Percival (Halesowen) had 3 Catsd from Masters using Live Bait weighing in at 22lb, 31lb and 43lb 8oz
8.7.13 – Justin & Simon Douglas (B’ham) had 21llb Cat & 3 Carp between 22lb & 25lb + 1 Ghost Carp between 26lb & 27lb on Erics and Masters
But, Jeff Randle from Kidderminster takes the biscuit with his (unconfirmed) 70lb+ Cat from Masters at approx 9pm on 11th July using luncheon meat – pic to follow. Jeff believes this is a different fish to the previous 70lb record caught by Sean Mills in 2011, so we can’t say it’s the biggest one in there.
Jeff also landed a 16lb Cat along with several silvers in a 24 hour session on peg 2. His big cat was witnessed by fellow anglers and we’re told that the scales bypassed the 55lb mark on a second lap by a good 15lb to 20lb, so it could have been touching 75lb, but without an accurate weight, Jeff realises that he can’t claim a new lake record but he’s delighted to know that he at least equalled the current lake record, if not beat it – and on the same bait!
