FIRST CAT OF 2013 – STUARTS LAKE
Local Angler, Daniel Rhodes, landed Shatterford’s first cat of the year on Stuarts Lake yesterday afternoon (Saturday 1st March) using boilies.
It was a Daniel’s first ever catfish and an overall PB for him, weighing in at an impressive 27lb.
Daniel told us: “I didn’t aim for a cat. Dad and I were just out for a day’s pleasure fishing and I would have been happy with anything, but this beauty made my day!” Pic to follow (hopefully!)
We’ve had a trickle of double figured carp from Erics and Masters this week, despite the cold conditions, but the cats are yet to show on our specimen lakes.
On a general note, anglers who like to fish Erics will be pleased to know that significant groundwork has been carried out recently, making the peg conditions much more pleasant. Also, in an attempt to lose the reputation of ‘coronary hill’, the steep gradient has been reduced via a new pathway, making access easier and with less disruption to fellow anglers.
