It’s been quite tough going on the area’s stillwaters in the last week – one match at Earlswood Lakes was won with a single skimmer bream – but some stretches of the River Severn have been in decent form running into the last weekend of the river season.
Cradley Heath Labour held an event at Stourport, which often produces in the colder months, and enjoyed some great silver fish sport with the top three all weighing in over 14lb. Winner on the day was Steve Robson, who fished traditional style with stick float and maggot for a 15-2-0 bag of dace, with Brian Smith (14-13-0) in second and Martyn Yarsley third on 14-8-0.
