There’s no shortage of pre-prepared expander pellets for the hook out there, but these have the consistency to be used side-hooked on the pole, waggler or feeder confidently.

SonuBaits say they have perfected a way to make sure the pellets don’t go off or become mushy with time, and that’s without the use of chemical preservatives.

On the pole they are ideal for shallow fishing because you can strike and they will stay on the hook, and in the bigger sizes they can be hair rigged without splitting if you’re careful.

They come in reasonably strong clear, plastic sealable 135gr tubs, although the tubs may split if you leave them in the bottom of your carryall to be knocked about.

Recommended by Des Shipp and Tommy Pickering, the 4mm Fishmeal pellets I was given for test are extremely strong smelling.
