Bag em Matchbaits angler Steve Whitfield takes winning spot for the second year running on the Tyne RiverFest qualifier.
Bright & breezey conditions combined with low water combined to make the Tyne a difficult proposition for the 58 competitors taking part in this Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier on Sunday 10th July 2016.
Winner, for the second year in succession on this venue, was Bag em Matchbaits angler Steve Whitfield who caught 17-12 from the unfancied Corbridge section. Steve fished the 6 & 8 metre whip with maggot & groundbait for 28 dace and a chublet.
Runner up was Anthony Green of Stratford Fishing & Outdoors with 16-8 from the Bywell section. Anthony caught three chub on ledgered bread and 12 dace on the stick float and maggot.
Third place angler was Brian Rigby, Shakespere Superteam Bait Tech, with 14-4 which comprised of 57 dace on the waggler and maggot from the Bywell section. Fourth was Daiwa Dons angler Steve Lowther with 10-7 which was 32 dace on waggler and maggot from Wylam.
Qualifiers going through to the final in November are;
Zone 1 Steve Whitfield, Zone 2 Anthony Green, and Zone 3 Steve Lowther.
