An angler has lost out on a near one million dollar fishing prize, because someone else didn’t have a $15 fishing licence.
Andy Thomassan was already planning how to spend the massive pot after landing the top prize in the 52nd Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament fished off America’s Carolina coastline. He had boated a huge 883lb marlin, the biggest of the event and a fish worth more than £600,000, and was pictured beaming a huge smile on the quay next to the fish after wards.
However, competition rules stated that anyone involved in the capture needed to undergo a LIE DETECTOR TEST.
Crew member Peter Wann failed, and was discovered not to have the required fishing licence. The result was that Andy’s Citation team was disqualified.
A North Carolina Coastal Recreation Licence costs $15 for residents and £30 for non residents.
