The Angling Trust is looking for talented Ladies and Veterans to compete in International trials on the 6th and 9th October to help select teams to represent the Angling Trust in next year’s FIPSed World Championships.

The Ladies 2014 World Championships will be fished in Portugal, and the Veterans team will travel to Rome as will the Disabled team where they expect to fish on the river Tiber.
The England Ladies trial will take place on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal at Thorne, Doncaster on Sunday 6th October 2013.  The trial will be fished to FIPSed International rules over four hours with an 11.5 metre pole limit.  Groundbait will be restricted to 15 litres and joker 500 mls with a maximum of 1.5 litres of other baits.
The main criteria for anyone wishing to nominate is the need to be proficient with pole and bloodworm fishing. Unfortunately at the present time the team does not have a sponsor, and all applicants must be willing to take part in fundraising schemes, or be in a position to pay all their participation costs.

The Veterans trial is open to anglers who are 60 years of age and above before December 31st this year.  The trial will take place on the River Trent on Nottingham’s Trent Embankment on Wednesday 9th October.
The same criteria applies to the Veterans trial, four hours fishing with a pole limit of 11.5 metre, groundbait 15 litres, joker 500 ml and 1.5 litres of other baits fished to FIPSed International rules.
All nominees must be individual members of the Angling Trust and without a team sponsor all selected anglers will have to pay participation costs, and help with any fundraising efforts.

The Angling Trust International Events Manager, Dick Clegg, OBE, stated “In future the trials for these teams will take place at this time of year to give selected anglers more time in which to try and raise participation funds.  It will also help with booking holidays and time off work well in advance of the competition date. Team managers will also be in a position to work and select from a bigger group of anglers, especially if we can create an academy of anglers with a greater knowledge of international rules.”

Applicants who would like to apply for the trials will need to supply a CV to include; full name, address, email address, date of birth, home and mobile contact telephone numbers, Angling Trust individual membership number, and to provide the last three years of their recent angling achievements, and any results.
