The first British Waterways Stillwater Championship final took place on Saturday 8th September at BW Blythe Waters in the West Midlands.
32 qualifying anglers from 6 qualifying rounds battled it out for the £5000 first prize.
A cold night followed by still, calm, warm, conditions removed any chance of a big weight, but made for a very tight finish with a number of anglers in with a chance.
The BW Stillwater championship 2007 and £5000 first prize was won by Des Southern (Mossella Garbolino) from Oldham with 48-0-0 from peg 14 on Bridge pool.
2nd place taking £1000 was Charlie Shaw (Dynamite Mayfair) from Derby with 44-14-0 from peg 16 on Bridge pool.
3rd place take £400 was Brian Clarke (Banbury Gunsmiths) from Banbury with 39-10-0 from peg 35 on Bridge pool.
Des Southern on Bridge 14 where he fished dead red maggot on a small method feeder over to island from most of the match picking up carp and chub and then picked up a number of larger carp to 8lb on cat meat down the edge in the last 40mins of the match. Charlie Shaw just 2 pegs away fished mainly down the margins fishing pellet and paste to pick up a number of tench and carp to 6lb.
