The Oaks at Sessay hosted the penultimate round of Fish’O’Mania this Saturday and it seemed the contest brought the sun up north, with good overnight temperatures and warm sunshine throughout the day.
It was local Director Tim Peters that took the honours on the day and booked his spot in the 50K final next month. The Tri-Cast Calder angler drew peg 13 on Ash lake and played to the conditions, fishing meat both shallow and deep to catch a run of good-sized carp throughout the match, finishing on an impressive 140lb 5oz.
Running him close was Jake Nightingale also on peg 13, but this time on Beeches Lake. Jake employed the rather controversial tactic of dobbing meat shallow but used it to devastating effect, taking carp to 4lbs in his 135lb 5oz bag.
Rounding out the top three was Browning backed, Fish’O regular, Adam Richards who drew on Sycamore peg 22. In contrast to other framers, Adam stuck with a caster shallow approach and netted carp to 3lb in his 132lb 9oz haul.
Our thanks to Tom and his team at the Oaks, along with Terry Nutt for putting in an awful lot of miles to organise the match.
The Last Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier takes place at Lindholme Lakes and tickets are now only available on the day.
