Leamington AA members are mourning the loss of Mick Twigger, a stalwart of the association over nearly 40 years.
Known as ‘Twig’ to his fishing pals, Mick died in Warwick hospital after a battle against cancer.
Club spokesman Anthony Simmons said: “Suffice it to say that Twig’s efforts with peg building, stocking, bank clearing, matches, bailiffing and contributions as a Vice President to committee meetings enabled the Association to continue making strong progress at times when other clubs were falling by the wayside. Over nearly 40 years, Twig gave his time freely to build Leamington Angling into the popular organisation it is today.”
* Members of Leamington AA are being asked to be on the lookout for fish thefts after a vigilant member found two carp sacks containing double figure fish tied to the leg of a fishing platform at Ryton Pools. A suspect vehicle was also seen and details have been passed to the police for further investigation. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call the EA Hotline on 0800 80 70 60 or Anthony Simmons on 01926 312319.
