Vicki Davies has set a new ladies’ venue catfish record at Shatterford Lakes with a 68lb beauty – a fish less than 2lb short of the biggest of the species ever landed in the UK by a female angler.

The fish, which came from peg 15 on Masters Lake and took luncheon meat at 5am, is also not far short of Shatterford’s overall fishery catfish record of 70lb held by Sean Mills. It’s been a good week for catfish at the Kidderminster venue, with Birmingham anglers Richie Garrett, Adam Porter, Ben Gibson and Richard Clarke landing fish of 36lb 8oz, 17lb 8oz, 18lb 4oz and 37lb respectively.
